GO TO SLEEP When my youngest was about 6 or 7, instead of a bed-time story I would sometimes play some ukulele. The music helped with getting to sleep but it also prolonged the 'going to bed' bit and kept me sitting in the room for as long as possible! I found I was mostly the one falling asleep and then I would be wakened  abruptly   by the words 'DAD keep playing'!  Precious moments which I recorded on voice notes.. You can listen on..
